I’ve been cartooning more or less since I was born. My parents tell me that at age 3 or so I started drawing complete pictures in crayons and by 5 I was starting to write on them. I majored in cartooning at the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan, and continued cartooning through college, with a column in the Hofstra newspaper called Paranoidisms and a yearly publication called the Gadfly which featured irreverent humor. I spent some time designing Muppets for Jim Henson and the cartooning was still apparent. Although I have spent almost 30 years working as a porcelain sculptor, my creations were essentially still cartoons. Now, I add cartoons to my doodle blog as situations happen that seem like they need to be tooned. Almost everything does, and no one I know is safe. Be warned.
Hi Barbara,
I just discovered your blog this morning and have worked my way down to January. But now really must get back to my real life of hunting for a job, which is a practice in futility since it seems no one is hiring 57 yr olds.
But I just wanted to say thank you. I’ve enjoyed your work thoroughly. The artwork is of course excellent, but even more so, I enjoy the sentiments. You’re obviously from my generation. I grew up in the Wash. DC area, where I also raised my children. But in recent years I’ve ended up in TX, (don’t ask me why) where I’ve been unable to find any like-minded people. So thank you for this. I will stay tuned!
Like everything I’ve seen so far, especially the Voodoo dolls, The Airline Fat fix, and Hubby’s fix on the hoover. (THAT was really good) oh… and the hypochondriac!
..and the gardening. (I’m a gardener) lol…
Thank you.
Sincerely.
Dear Sarah,
If you’re on facebook, you can become a fan of the “Barbara’s Doodle Blog” page and/or you can send me a friend request at “Barbara Broido” and I’ll approve you right away! Thanks so much for the kind words. This started out as a life journal of sorts, but the political stuff just couldn’t help sneaking in.
Barb
Just did.
Oh please don’t filter out any political, or sociological thoughts, they’re priceless. You speak for many, I’m sure. Or maybe not, maybe you speak for a select few square pegs.

Wow,
i draw as well, but have a mind that thinks too much.
Sceptism, religion, absurd, etc. is all what comes to mind.
But i couldn’t figure out to what my pictures could serve.
